Namaste, a Hindu term meaning, "to honor the spirit within" is a program for residents of long term care facilities in the terminal stage of Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. This program of continuous activities is a unique approach that has shown to provide a higher quality of life by having a staff person present for the resident who is in the last days or months of life. This story will provide an overview of the Namaste program recently implemented at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vermont.
